Dr. Ng’s son was diagnosed with high myopia at just three years old. Aware of the serious eye diseases linked to this condition, Dr. Ng searched tirelessly for treatments to slow its progression. Yet, visit after visit to leading specialists brought the same discouraging message: there were no treatments available. This made his journey into myopia control deeply personal. At the time, very little was understood about managing childhood myopia. Despite every effort, his son’s condition worsened, eventually requiring multiple surgeries and resulting in permanent vision loss. Now an adult, his son lives with mild vision impairment.
