In 1972 mental health care in Jefferson County did not, for all practical purposes, exist. Then a group of dedicated citizens created Community Treatment, Inc. (Com-Trea). The doors opened in the Spring of 1974. The agency has continued to grow ever since, responding to the needs of Jefferson County, Missouri. COMTREA remains committed to its mission to be an innovative, effective, and responsive community mental health center for Jefferson County. In addition, our adolescent chemical abuse and family counseling efforts now extend to South St. Louis County and other parts of the St. Louis Metropolitan area.
