Lange Plumbing & Fire Protection opened its doors on December 1, 2000. Prior to that, Bernie had been employed by his father. He worked with his dad when he was young and progressively became a part of his father's company. Upon graduation of high school, he was a laborer while attending UNLV. Eventually, he gained the experience and tested to become a journeyman plumber. His father, Robert Lange, was very proud when Bernie and Shelli showed an interest in starting their own company.
